I own, well it's of my employer but anyway, a pretty powerful machine that is able to run code pretty fast and I don't see any reason to pay for it an hourly rate.

Lately we've seen many cloud solutions, from Codespaces to GitPod and everything in the middle, thing is that I do not want to pay hourly for a cloud machine. Why I think that VS Code Remote Containers is a killer feature? The OP, as myself, does not want to switch editor so stop advice it. I think many people have commented without reading the request here. Well tbh this is the same reason why I've started to look into VS Code Remote Containers and I am slowly building my way up to, hopefully, build a proper dev env for Rails in VS Code. Maybe there is a good VScode setup that I am missing, if so please let me know! but if it has all the things that the VScode developer environment is missing I would give it a shot. I definitely didn't want to use another editor and learn all the keywords again. I also miss a lot things like when you type a Class name, and then dot you see the autocomplete showing the possible methods you can use from that class. strip method shows no definition, I cannot get the most out of the code editor using VScode. I'm using the ruby solargraph and rufo extension on VScode but it's not good enough, if I hover over a class from a library, or something from the codebase itself the language itself like "string".strip the.
